College Achievements

Achievements made by the College as part of it’s developmental strides.

The College has made some remarkable achievements especially in the area of training. It has the responsibility for the training of NN officers and ratings of the Engineering Department in the acquisition of requisite technical skills, in order to broaden her technological base.

The College strives to maintain excellence and pave way for continued improvement, while making available training to both private and public sectors, by way of partnering with the Federal Government in enhancing skills acquisition. Some of these achievements will be briefly discussed below:

a. Training of Oceanographers. The College has in the past trained about 60 students of the Federal School of Fisheries and Marine Technology, Victoria Island, Lagos in Damage Control and Fire Fighting. Course duration was between 30 May – 13 Jun 2000

b. Training of Ghanaian Navy Officers. In order to boost the relationship between Nigeria and Ghana, the College undertook to train Ghanaian Navy officers. The four Ghanaian Navy Officers Application Course (OAC) – 9 in Weapon Engineering and Marine Engineering and Marine Engineering Schools between June 2009 and May 2010.

c. Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria. The College trained thirty-one students of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria in a safety course in 2013. This training no doubt has helped to establish good working relations between the two institutions.

d. Also in 2002, the College trained seventeen (17) civilians in swimming survival course including Fire Fighting and Damage Control.

e. Training for Skills Acquisition. Currently, the College is training 15 people from Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in skills and acquisition as Machinists. The course which commenced in August 2014 will end in February 2015.
