Basic Engineering School is one of the 7 schools run at the Nigerian Naval Engineering College, primarily responsible for the inculcation of the basic fundamental principles of engineering subjects to the trainees.

My team are highly impressed with the training facility and the school dedicated staff. We believe this visit will bring us a step closer to achieving your final goal of preparing the Nigerian Naval Personnel to maintain all Nigerian Naval Fleets.” Engr David Struck, Team Leader from MTU South Africa

The Basic Engineering School (BES) is one of the 7 schools run at the Nigerian Naval Engineering College (NNEC) Sapele. The BES is primarily responsible for the inculcation of the basic fundamental principles of engineering subjects to the trainees.

From BES the trainees are prepared depending on their bias and performance for advanced technical courses run by the Weapon Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering and Automobile Mechanic Schools respectively. Thus BES is the bed rock of technical training in the Nigerian Navy.

Much like other schools in the college, Basic Engineering School is headed by a Commanding Officer (CO), who is responsible to the Training Commander (TC) for the administration of the school.

The first year of the Artificer training are conducted at BES, with the following courses run at the school: Leading Mechanic Course (LMC), and Basic Mechanic Course (BMC).
