Marine Engineering School

The Marine Engineering School was established in 1982 for the purpose of training Naval Technicians and Engineers to meet the technical needs of the Nigerian Navy and for the development of the nation’s maritime industry.

The Marine Engineering School is one of the 7 schools in the College. It is tasked with the responsibility of training Nigerian Navy officers and ratings to acquire the relevant knowledge and skills to function as Marine Engineering Officers and technicians respectively.

The School was pioneered by International Military Service of the United Kingdom. To further equip the Marine Engineering School, Messers Dornier of Germany was invited to develop and provide logistics support for the school. Currently, the School is operated by selected and qualified Nigerian Navy personnel and civilian staff of various engineering discipline.

The Marine Engineering School is equipped with facilities and a conducive learning environment in addition to a decommissioned Nigerian Navy frigate, NNS OBUMA for use as training ship.
