Weapon Electrical Engineering School
The Weapon Electrical Engineering School is one of the 7 Schools in the College tasked with the responsibility of training officers, artificers and mechanics to meet the Weapon Engineering Department maintenance requirements of NN fleet.
Officially opened by Vice Admiral PD Koshoni on 23 November 1988, the WEES is one of the 7 Schools in the College tasked with the responsibility of training officers, artificers and mechanics to meet the Weapon Engineering Department maintenance requirements of NN fleet.
The School is equipped with various equipment and training facilities to aid the theoretical and practical training of officers and ratings in Weapon Engineering (WE) discipline.
Courses run in the WEES includes Officer Application Course (OAC) with duration of one year, Special Duty Post Commissioning Training (SDPCT) with duration of one year for officers also, Intermediate Level Maintenance Course (ILMC) with a duration of six months and type training for officers and ordinance ratings on Weapon and Fire Control Systems, Artificers’ Course with a total duration of four years. Only two years of the period are spent in WEES and is for ratings only, Petty Officers Weapon Electrical Mechanician (POWEM) Course with duration of nine months. The course is for ratings due to advance to their next rate (rank), and Pre-joining Training (PJT) with duration of three months conducted for officers and ratings going to join new ship. This course is for these personnel to familiarize themselves with the equipment of their new ship
WEES was accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in August 2008 for the award of National Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
